How to Clean a Ball Mouse

If your mouse stops moving smoothly on your screen or while moving it you feel a 'gritty' resistance, then it may be time to give your mouse a good cleaning.

Ball-type mice use two rollers to determine where the mouse has moved and a third to keep the ball centered in the mouse case. Over time these three rollers will pick up lint and other debris to create an uneven surface - making it difficult to turn with the ball.

To clean your mouse:
1) Turn the mouse over and look at the cover that holds the mouse in:

4) Once the rollers are smooth, you might want to check the ball for any pits or cuts. If you find any, then you may need to purchase a new mouse since replacements are not something you can go out and buy.

5) Next just drop the roller back in the mouse and replace the cover and you should be good to go.

***One other note:
If you unplugged your mouse from the computer while it was on, it may not immediatly start working again when you plug it back in. Try restarting the PC to get it going again.
